When you are packing parcels, packages and documents, you need to be sure that they are well packaged before the goods enter the courier delivery chain. When it comes to liquid you may need to be extra careful, before you send it, as otherwise it could leak out and ruin the product and whatever else is around it. Once the client sees the ruined product, they may not be feeling too happy about it. We have some short guidelines about packing liquids before shipping, and we invite you to read them, to maximise chances of a happy end customer!
What Can You Ship And What Can You Not Ship?

The good news is that most liquids can be sent by courier in UK. However, it will depend on the courier and it will depend on the liquid. Due to safety concerns, some liquids can not be sent by courier. Some liquids which contain alcohol, such as paints and perfumes may not be shipped as they are flammable, but on the other hand, the likes of wine and beer are usually relatively safe and often admissible. The best thing to do, is to check with your courier before arranging a collection of your package for delivery, to avoid being disappointed.
How Well Sealed Is Your Liquid?

We would strongly recommend using a double seal around the opening of the container, such as an an extra layer of plastic covering the lid or a strip of tape covering the opening of the container. This could reduce the need for more packaging, and it should help to stop any worry about the lid accidentally coming off whilst in transit. Also, it would be advisable to put the container with liquid inside a waterproof covering such as a bag, ensuring that the bag totally covers the container, and seal the bag. For extra reassurance, you could then put it all inside a bigger waterproof bag, seal both bags well, and use rubber bands to stop the container from moving around within the bags.
Does The Liquid Need To Remain Cold During Transit?

If this is the case, Sprint Sameday Couriers would suggest that you put the waterproof bag which holds the container, inside a styrofoam cooler or polystyrene cooler box, as this should help to insulate the liquid from external heat and external warm air or strong sun. Make sure to put frozen gel packs inside the polystyrene cooler box, to maximise your chances of keeping the liquid cool throughout its journey, and also, it should help to stop the waterproof bag from moving around the box too much.
Your Box

Firstly, choose a strong, sturdy box, that is unlikely to rip during the collection and delivery process. Put packing material inside the bottom of the box, place the container or cooler on top of the packing material, and then fill up the rest of the box with the packing material. Use plenty of strong packing tape, especially on any joins or seams, and also to help to make sure that the box does not rip open during transit. We would strongly suggest writing both “FRAGILE” and “LIQUID” on the outside of the box, using permanent marker or stickers.
